Education

The importance of Education

  • Education is important, as it is the gateway to empowerment, development, success, and happiness throughout life.

  • Education Develops problem-solving skills, promotes gender equality, provides self-dependency, provides stability and financial security, and contributes to economic growth.

  • Education in India is primarily provided through public schools, and the essence of human resource development is education, which plays a significant and remedial role in balancing the socio-economic framework of the country.

The Challenges Faced

  • While the education model in India has come a long way, India is still far from being world-class in its education system and has much to improve on. There has been an increase in student drop-out rate, a shortage of efficient teachers, and the instructional delivery and curriculum has been deemed outdated.

  • The national education policies say that India should be allocating 6% of its Gross Domestic Product (GDP) on education, but in 2019-20 only 3.1% of the GDP was spent on education.

  • A lack of hygiene, toilets, drinking water facilities, electricity, and playgrounds are still present in schools and significantly hinder a child’s education and growth potential.

  • Additionally, the cost of higher education can prevent people from gaining (and furthering) their education. Talented people in India, who could develop the education sector of the country and contribute to the progress of the country have been lost or inhibited in their growth from the education system.
